Secondary Character: Jojen Reed
Jojen and Meera Reed are the son and daughter of Howland Reed, a close friend to the late Eddard Stark and head of House Reed. Jojen is short, slight of build and slender, and possesses eyes the color of moss. He and his sister first come to Winterfell after Eddard Stark's death, to pledge their support to Winterfell and to Robb Stark, the King in the North. However, Jojen soon reveals to Bran Stark that they are there to free Bran from his life at Winterfell. After a bout of greywater fever as a child, Jojen was visited by a three-eyed crow in his dreams, and he also gained the gift of greensight, which allows him to experience prophetic dreams. In one of Jojen's dreams, there had been a winged wolf bound to the earth with grey stone chains, and a three-eyed crow was trying to peck through the chains, but the stone was too hard. Jojen tells Bran that the winged wolf is Bran, and that both he and Meera are there to break Bran's chains and take him north, beyond the Wall, to find the three-eyed crow so that Bran can fully master his new-found abilities.
