Main Character: Tyrion Lannister
Epithet: The Imp
Tyrion is the third child of Tywin Lannister. His entry into the world killed his mother, something his father has truly never forgiven him for. Tyrion looks nothing like this older siblings, Cersei and Jaime Lannister; the twins are well-known for their beauty, whereas Tyrion was born a dwarf, stunted and misshapen. Knowing that only the power and prestige of House Lannister saved him from being thrown on out on streets to fend for himself, as would often happen with men and women born with his condition, Tyrion has taken to sharpening the one gift he has – a sharp and cunning mind. He has also built up a great deal of patience and tolerance, such that jibes and taunts about his height no longer bother him; in fact, he often makes self-deprecating jokes about his condition. And he almost always finds ways to use it to his advantage. Tyrion survived an assassination attempt during the Battle of the Blackwater and has now fully recovered from the grievous wound inflicted upon him in the fight. He discovers that his father is now in King's Landing and has taken over as the King's Hand, the position he previously held on his father's behalf while preparing the capital for Stannis' attack. It annoys him that his father has taken all the glory for the victory over Stannis since it was Tyrion himself who had contributed substantially in the preparation of the city's defense.
