Secondary Character: Jorah Mormont
Epithet: Jorah the Andal
The Dothraki call him Jorah the Andal, due to the fact the middle-aged knight comes from Westeros. He was once the Lord of House Mormont, a vassal family of House Stark. His father, Jeor Mormont, decided to leave House Mormont’s only holdings, Bear Island, to Jorah, whom he deemed as capable. Jeor Mormont went on to join the Night’s Watch while Jorah took over as Lord of House Mormont. In order to pay off some debts, he sold several captured poachers into slavery. When Edward Stark learned of this, he immediately headed to Bear Island to dispense the King’s Justice (for slavery is illegal in the Seven Kingdoms, punishable by death). Jorah fled across the Narrow Sea, choosing exile rather than death at Eddard's hand or joining his father in the Night's Watch. The disgrace he has inflicted on House Mormont still weighs heavily in his heart, and he hopes that one day, he might receive a pardon and be able to return to Westeros. Ser Jorah now travels with Daenerys Targaryen in the lands across the Narrow Sea, having sworn an oath to serve and protect her as a member of her Queensguard.
