Secondary Character: Jon Arryn
Titles: Lord of the Eyrie, Defender of the Vale, Warden of the East, Hand of the King
Jon Arryn fostered both Robert Baratheon and Eddard Stark at the Eyrie, and he came to love them as his own children, just as they came to love him as a second father. When King Aerys II demanded that Jon hand over both boys to the King’s justice, Jon Arryn rebelled; House Stark and House Baratheon followed shortly thereafter. His marriage to Lysa Tully forged an alliance with House Tully. The marriage was largely loveless, but Lysa eventually gave him an heir, Robert Arryn, named in honor of Robert Baratheon. At the story of the story, Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, is just recently deceased; he seems to have died under mysterious circumstances.
