Arstan is an old man who hails from Westeros and is constantly seen walking with a staff in hand; the staff is more of a weapon than a walking aid since Arstan appears to be in incredibly good health and shape for a man his age. Arstan currently squires for Strong Belwas, an enormous eunuch who once had the reputation as the best pit-fighter in the fighting pits of Meeren. Magister Illyrio Mopatis sent Strong Belwas and Arstan to Qarth to find Daenerys and bring her back to Pentos. In Qarth, Arstan saves Daenerys from an assassination attempt and has been traveling at her side ever since.
