Main Character: Stannis Baratheon

Back to Main Page

Titles: Lord of Dragonstone

House: Baratheon

Stannis Baratheon is the elder of the late King Robert Baratheon’s younger brothers. While the younger, Renly, was all smiles and charm, Stannis is the exact opposite. A hard and unyielding man, Stannis considers even the smallest slight to his honor a personal attack, one to be dealt with as swiftly as possible. His stubborn determination in the face of adversity and overwhelming odds was never more on show than during Robert’s Rebellion, where he successful held Storm’s End against a siege led by a much bigger army –when the food ran out, Stannis started eating rats and boiled leather.  Stannis once sat on the King's small council, but shortly before Robert's death, he hastily departed from King's Landing. Before he was executed, Eddard Stark discovered the reason behind Stannis' hasty departure: the Lord of Dragonstone had stumbled upon a dark secret, one that if revealed, would cause a civil war in the Seven Kingdoms. Stannis fled the capital with his life, but the secret claimed Eddard's. Now, knowing what he knows, Stannis has crowned himself as King of the Seven Kingdoms and seeks to claim what he sees is his by right. Having been defeated at the Battle of the Blackwater, Stannis has now returned to Dragonstone and is calculating his next move.
