Main Character: Sansa Stark
Sansa is elder sister to Arya, a polite and gentle girl who is said to possess a beauty that surpasses her mother’s. Unlike her sister’s pragmatic approach to life, Sansa's tends to veer towards the more fanciful: she wishes for her life to be like the stories and songs, featuring chivalrous knights and beautiful princesses living happily ever after. Or at least she had wanted to before her father Eddard Stark was branded a traitor and executed on the steps of Baelor's Sept. Following the horrific incident, Sansa has lost much of her innocence. She can no longer stand the sight of the man she was once betrothed to, the young boy-king Joffrey Baratheon - it was Joffrey who gave the order for her father to be executed. As the King, Joffrey always has members of the Kingsguard around him, and he gets them to beat Sansa every time she says something even remotely negative about him or House Lannister. After receiving more than a handful of beatings from men she once thought to be true knights, Sansa has learned how to lie and utter sweet nothings for Joffrey. Although her lies might fool Joffrey, they do not fool the adults around her, for in King's Landing, she is surrounded from every side by those who eat, live and breathe lies for far longer than she has been alive.
